I don\u2019t want to frighten people, but I think it\u2019s important the citizenry of our area know the truth.\u00a0 The truth is this:\u00a0 the Pearson House at the Stanwood Area Historical Society has a ghost.\u00a0 About once a week the Paranormal Societies call up for information about this spirit, but no one down at the Un-Hysterical Society wants to cause a panic so they never return those calls.<\/p>\n
A year ago a woman was \u2018hit\u2019 by this poltergeist.\u00a0 Coming down from the attic she felt a whack on the back of her neck at the the top of the stairs and she had a red spot to prove it.\u00a0 Witnesses swear she was sober.\u00a0 Now \u2026. I\u2019m like a lot of us South Enders —- I got plenty of skeletons in my closet and I\u2019m not about to exhume my own boneyard, although I realize I\u2019m whistle blowing the Casper down at the Pearson House.<\/p>\n
We all believe pretty much what we want to believe.\u00a0 Mostly, these days, it\u2019s what we don\u2019t believe that\u2019s most frightening to me.\u00a0 We don\u2019t believe what we read in the Stanwoodopolis Gazette or the N.Y. Times or even the ever trustworthy Crab Cracker.\u00a0 We don\u2019t believe politicians, not even our homegrown Commissioner, and she doesn\u2019t believe in government even though she was elected to be the damn government.\u00a0 We don\u2019t believe in other folks\u2019 religion.\u00a0 We don\u2019t believe TV or most of the internet.\u00a0 We don\u2019t think advertising is true.\u00a0 We apparently don\u2019t believe in science and we certainly don\u2019t think the future is very bright.<\/p>\n
But we do believe in ghosts.\u00a0 Which is why you need to know what\u2019s being hidden up in the attic of D.O Pearson\u2019s house.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s okay for now, but what if they leave the front door open one night?\u00a0 How many missing cats are unaccounted for in West Stanwood?\u00a0 Are lights turning themselves on at night?\u00a0 Are your children SAFE?\u00a0 Are any of us safe from this swamp spirit prowling restlessly the Pearson widowwalk all hours of the night???<\/p>\n
The truth, as the TV show X-Factor always told us, is out there, bumping in the night.\u00a0 Where is our Chamber of Commerce when we need them?\u00a0 There\u2019s money going wasted.\u00a0 Tourism lost.\u00a0 Build the Paranormal Convention Center and they will come!!\u00a0 And I don\u2019t mean just the spooks\u2026.\u00a0 At one time the C of C was going to put its office in the Tolin House between the Odd Fellows Hall and the Pearson Ghost Central.\u00a0 But at the last minute they bailed out.\u00a0 I suspect they KNEW the truth even then.\u00a0 The Stanwood Chamber of Horrors.\u00a0 Somebody needs to tell them you sometimes have to take risks to make profits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
